Handy Guide to Reading Science News!
Someone very smart once said (paraphrasing here): “Your head should be open to new ideas, but not so open that your brains fall out.”
Keep these tips in mind when you read science news, and beware alarmism. You don’t have to stop feeling amazed and awed to be a little cautious and skeptical. I’ll be posting more tips like this in the future.

I have a degree in biological sciences. I currently work at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago where I maintain all the living organisms within the exhibits. I also completed an internship with the marine mammals at Shedd Aquarium. When I’m not doing science, I play bass in an orchestra and a rock band, autocross my car, ride my bike, run, groom dogs, and seek more knowledge.
